Real talk, June was a tricky time for this blog. The month was short on holidays, but jam packed with previously scheduled events. It was difficult for me to figure out when to squeeze a party into my schedule. I was so happy when I realized that Father's Day coincided with the weekend that my parents were scheduled to visit. Enter, Party No. 6's theme: Surf and Turf Taco Fiesta! I realize this might not sound like your typical Father's Day party, but if you know my Dad, you would understand. My whole family loves Mexican food, especially tacos, and my Dad is the biggest fan of us all.
So, where did the surf and turf idea come from? Jason and I had recently visited Crate and Barrel looking for a new set of dishes and silverware, (more on those results, later!) and the store was full of nautical themed decor. I liked the "clam bake" style with stripes and anchors, but didn't find it all that inspiring, for whatever reason. That is why I turned my focus to the fiesta idea. Since this party turned out to have only four guests, I knew I could concentrate my crafting efforts on decor for the table instead of multiple rooms. Things suddenly felt like they were falling in to place.
Color wise, I knew I wanted to use more muted tones- compared to many of the fiesta color schemes included above. I have used shades of pink and red for many of my parties already; I wanted to push myself and decided to play with blues and greens this time.
And since I am really excited about how this one turned out, here's a preview!
