Party No. 9 was an international potluck at our place! And it was so much fun. I used a lot of the photos above as inspiration for my own party.
I have been sitting on this theme since the blog's inception and I'm glad I saved it until now, because it all came together perfectly! Check out the Facebook invitation below.
I asked everyone to bring a dish that spoke to their heritage, but left it up to the guests to decide what to bring. Ideally, I wanted a mix of dish types, and lots of countries represented, and I knew my friends would not disappoint.
I know some people don't like potluck style parties, because, why throw a party if you're going to make your guests bring something? I think potlucks are nearly always acceptable. Hosting a party is lots of work, and if asking guests to contribute in some way makes it easier on the host - and encourages more party throwing - then I'm all for it.
When you're throwing a party a month, you need to get creative with the themes. This one was originally inspired by the world flags printable I found while browsing Pinterest. (It includes 100 flags! Aka, a ton of material for a garland!)
I can't wait to show you how it turned out! And since this is Party No. 9, only three more parties to go after this. We're in the home stretch and I am excited to see how the year closes out.
