Loving getting a fancy hairdo with Anna of River City Braids a few weeks ago. Plus, her wonderful wife, Christina took some glam shots of the braids & me! Anna is starting a side gig of braid booths for local events and I’m so inspired!
Crafting an extra large post this month to make up for skipping last month’s wrap up.
Drinking incredibly refreshing tea - strawberry melon and kiwi starfruit - from The Allspicery (a local spice shop in Sac).
Tweeting this thought provoking, kind, powerful essay, “The Crane Wife”. It resonated so much with me- for better and worse.
Enjoying this article on dabbling and how sometimes it’s more than ok to do things for the sake of joy, pleasure, or, for the heck of it!
Thinking about the power in discussion of life’s hard stuff: how important it can be to see two humans, in the public eye no less, talking openly about something that isn’t shared much. I don’t agree with every point made here, but am a fan of grief getting it’s fair share.
Thanking those that reached out during my brother’s death anniversary this month. Having people that remember your hard dates feels like being SEEN. And it serves as a reminder that my brother isn’t forgotten.
Feeling excited for a new season. This summer seemed to drag on, and I’m ready for a change of pace.
Wanting to order this cutie shirt!
Listening to the new Taylor Swift album. I think it’s one of her best ever, and would compare it to the magic of “1989”.
Smelling coffee while working on this post in a coffee shop with my Blog Bloc friends. Heyyyy y’all!
Considering this cool creative types quiz. I scored as The Thinker = deep thoughts, big questions.
Loving the self-care staycation I went on this month. It felt so, so restorative to take time for myself in this way. I let myself off the hook for any responsibility that day and night and was actually able to CHILL OUT for the first time in a long while. That, paired with new therapy tactics, has given me some wonderful insight that I’m taking with me into the final part of this year. Perpetual shout out to Asha Urban Baths in Sacramento.
Finishing a quilt for a dear friend. It took me WAY longer than anticipated, but the good news is that it is ready to be loved for years and years to come.
Doing a whole lot of yoga, which I’m exponentially grateful for. Sometimes I look at elements of my life with wonder and awe: I bike to work at a job I enjoy, walk to my yoga studio that feels like home, and live in a part of town that I really could only dream of living in years ago. It’s difficult to reconcile the different parts my story that have added up to me getting to this place in my life, however.
Reading The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters! It’s a good one.
Trying new toothpaste that is SLS free. It was recommended to me by my dental hygienist and has helped lessen the pain of the canker sores that I get from time to time.
Celebrating the goodness that is the #ClearTheList campaign on social media. It’s not too late to participate!
Eating cotton candy grapes! *Insert crazy woah gif here.*
