Enjoying January camellia weather in Sacramento. The trees are everywhere in Midtown and they feel like the most wonderful backdrop to my days right now.
Reading Journey to the Heart - again. It’s a daily meditation book, and this is my second or third year of using it as a resting point during my nightly bedtime routine.
Playing the newest Mumford and Sons album. I particularly like “Rose of Sharon” and “Woman”.
Trying to get to yoga three times a week. After moving to Sacramento, I started getting myself to a yin class once a week. Now I’ve moved studios and am loving my twice a week vinyasa classes. I’m reminding myself that I worked up to where I am now and will continue to move into the next stage of my practice when it’s right. I like the idea that I’m building foundational steps. So far though, there is something much more appealing about practicing in a studio versus at home.
Cooking the best fluffy scrambled eggs for breakfast.
Eating Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi with pesto, parmesan, and kale.
Loving the weekly routine I’ve settled in to after the holidays. Work days feel full and productive, and my days off feel sacred and restful.
Celebrating the creative opportunities presenting themselves to me in the coming weeks.
Discovering a podcast called “Happiness Spells”. The short 5-minute episodes are the perfect way to fall asleep at night or calm me during the day. “This life is filled with enjoyable things, and the foundation of all creativity and true joy is in noticing and appreciating all that lies around us and in us.”
Starting to feel my creative energy return! I recently finished a quilt top (for a dear friend) that had been on my work station for months, and am excited to see what projects I pick up next. Wondering how to capitalize on this feeling and put it to work!
Happy end of January friends.
Hugs wherever this finds you today.
