This holiday weekend, we made our annual visit to Chalk it Up, a free art festival in Midtown Sacramento. This was the event's 25th year, and probably our 3rd or 4th year in a row stopping by at some point during the three day weekend. When I used to work near the park, I would try to visit each day of the festival because watching the progression of pieces from beginning to end was so fun. It's also cool to see the finished products, by only going on the last day. There's live music, food trucks, lots of fun stuff for kids, and vendors selling local goods. It was WARM, when we visited and I don't envy the artists who knelt in the sun for most of the weekend.
The good news: no rain in the forecast this week. I would hate to see the art wash away so quickly! Check out some of my favorite squares, below.
Plus, here's a cool link to the Sac Bee's gallery of photos from Monday.
Did you do anything fun with your extra day off?
