Every Monday night, for the past three years, my closest friends and I, tune into ABC to follow the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise. We set up season passes on our DVRs, and open up our kitchens + couches to each other. Everyone brings yummy treats to share and we catch up about what is happening in our lives. We fast forward through the commercials + boring montages, and create the best nicknames for our favorite "contestants". When I was having difficult months at work, I used to dread my hosting duties; the last thing I wanted was people in my living room. The pressure of cleaning and entertaining, even though it was for my closest friends, was too much. Thankfully, my girls kept showing up for me. Having a date with your favorite people every Monday makes the first day of the work week so much more bearable. I highly recommend it.
When brainstorming for May's party theme, I was weary of using the Bachelorette Premiere as my date, because it was something that my friends would have gotten together for, with or without this blog of mine. But, after some encouraging from my friends, I decided it was a great reason to create some crafts, and try out new recipes. I knew I didn't want to go the cheesy TV "romance" route, but still wanted to incorporate some aspects of the show, like roses and champagne.
For this party's invitation I went Facebook style again. Usually, our Monday night plans get hashed out over group text, but I wanted to open up our usual circle and invited some of my friends from work! (I am so glad I did, btw.)
I've got some great posts lined up from this gathering! This party was the least stressful thus far, yet things turned out really magically. Maybe this means I'm getting the hang of this? Stay tuned.
